Improve Your Sense of Smell with Smell Training
Smell training has been strongly supported by clinical research studies for over a decade. Recent studies have also shown improvements from smell training remain long after the smell training has stopped.
Sentidos is a thoroughly tested and researched olfactory assessment. The test kit includes 12 scented waxes, multiple choice answer sheet, and user instructions and is easily self-administered in 10-15 minutes.
Training Your Sense of Smell
Smell training is most effective when you are able to identify the specific scent or scent category you are unable to detect. This enables the smell training to be more beneficial as you are able to more easily track any progress.
Smell Test Kit
Smell training typically involves sniffing from each of the four categories of smells: Flowery (Rose), Fruity (Lemon/Citrus), Aromatic (clove) and Resinous (eucalyptus).
A Sentidos Smell Test Kit can help you identify what scents you are unable to detect before the smell training begins, providing a baseline. Throughout your smell training, Sentidos Smell Tests Kits can help track any improvements as they occur.
Smell Testing Research
A 2009 study found significant improvement in smell impairment by deeply smelling each of the four smell categories for 10 seconds each twice a day for 12 weeks.
A 2015 study compared the four smell category study (extended to 36 weeks) to another one that used three different scents within each of the four categories over the course of the study. The original odors of rose, lemon, cloves, and eucalyptus were utilized for the first 12 weeks. Jasmine, tangerine, thyme and menthol were utilized, for the next 12 weeks and gardenia, bergamot, rosemary and green tea, for the final 12 weeks.
People in both groups improved more than similar people who did not do smell training. Switching up the odors after the first 12 weeks produced better results more quickly than continuing with the original four odors.
Regular Smell Testing
At 12 week intervals, Sentidos Smell Test Kit can be used to help track impaired smell improvement and thereby suggest what scents may be more effective than others.
